How to care for you Stamped Concrete:
The best way to take care of your new driveway, patio, sidewalk or stoop is to wash it regularly with a pressure washer. A 1500-psi washer is perfect for this job and they can be purchased at Menard’s or Home Depot for about $100.
About every 2-3 years you should have your surface resealed. We can do that for you or you can do it yourself. The sealer can be purchased from us and we can walk you through the application, or you could just have us do the work.
The main culprit for failing concrete is salt. Avoid using salt to melt the snow. Cemstone sells a product called ‘Ice No More’ which will melt snow and ice and is not detrimental to the concrete when used in minimal quantities. Use sand also to aid in traction. Hire a competent company to plow your stamped concrete driveway. Express to that company the investment you made in your stamped concrete and the importance of plowing with care and competency.
Do’s and Don’ts for your Stamped Concrete
Do wash your concrete regularly when dirty with a pressure washer Do use water to clean Do have your concrete resealed every 2-3 years Do use non-corrosive snow and ice melting agents Do hire an experienced snow removal company Do use a sealer recommended by Concrete Arts
Don’t use salt to melt snow Don’t use an ice pick to remove ice Don’t spray fertilizer or other lawn maintenance items on concrete Don’t let your sealer wear off Don’t use any cleaning solutions to clean unless compatible with sealer Don’t reseal it with a non-recommended product |
